Karma Dorji is an experienced leader and entrepreneur with a diverse background in education, visa services, philanthropy, and sports management. Currently serving as the Manager at Expert Education and Visa Services in Canberra, Karma oversees client relations, visa processing, and team performance, while also building strategic partnerships with educational institutions and international stakeholders. Karma ensures compliance with immigration regulations and drives business growth in this role.
As the Founder of Expert Education and Visa Services, Bhutan Office, Karma played a pivotal role in establishing the business, providing guidance to students and clients navigating the complexities of international education and migration.
In addition to these responsibilities, Karma is the President and CoFounder of the Bhutan Baseball & Softball Association, where efforts are led to develop the sport in Bhutan, fostering youth participation and international cooperation in sports.
Previously, Karma served as Director of Bhutan Philanthropy Ventures, leading social impact initiatives and managing partnerships with donors and international organizations to benefit local communities. Additionally, as the Race Director at the Bhutan Olympic Committee, Karma successfully coordinated large scale athletic events, securing sponsorships and ensuring operational success.
With a passion for social development, education, and sports, Karma brings extensive experience in managing cross sectoral projects, driving business growth, and delivering impactful results.
Phuntsho Wangdi hails from the beautiful valley of Paro in Bhutan. He started his education in Bhutan and completed his Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in English Honours from Delhi University, India. He has a Master’s in Public Administration from the National University of Singapore, a Master’s in Education Studies from the University of Canberra and a Master of Education from the Royal University of Bhutan. He completed his PhD in Public Policy from Chiang Mai University in Thailand. He also attended an International Project Administration Course in Denmark.
Previously, he served as an education administrator and policymaker in the Ministry of Education under the Royal Government of Bhutan. He worked as a Project Manager at the Education Review Office, where he was instrumental in developing the Education Blueprint and led various educational and organisational development projects as a civil servant for 15 years. His significant contributions include the introduction of Rover Scouts in colleges and universities across Bhutan through Bhutan Denmark Scouts’ collaborations. Additionally, he has worked as an Education Consultant for edeo. Asia in Singapore and served as a Mentor for the Peer Mentoring Programme for the Faculty of Education at the University of Canberra. He has experience as a Visiting Faculty at the Institute of Excellence and Development and also held the position of Policy Analyst at EduPlus, Bhutan. Furthermore, he is a certified Trainer in Education in Emergencies and has led several disaster preparedness training sessions in partnership with UNICEF and Save the Children.
Before his current role as the Chief Executive Officer at Charo Wongdo, he worked as a Researcher at the University of New South Wales, Canberra, Australia. Due to his extensive background in academia, public administration, and policy development, he has established a solid foundation in Bhutan’s public and social policy practices. His research interests encompass education policy and practice, public administration and management, and educational and social initiatives aimed at promoting Gross National Happiness.
Mrs. Yeshey Choden is a compassionate and dedicated care professional with over three years of hands on experience in Australia’s aged care and disability support sectors. With formal qualifications in both aged care and disability services, she has built a strong foundation in delivering personalized, respectful, and high quality care to elderly individuals and people with complex needs.
During her time in Australia, Yeshey held key roles with organizations such as NT Respite Care Plus, Meath Care, Mercy Care, and Aegies Aged Care. Her responsibilities included dementia care, end of life support, medication management, and facilitating social engagement activities. Through these roles, she developed a deep understanding of international best practices in care delivery and person centered support.
Prior to her work in the care industry, Yeshey served as a Senior Customer Care Executive at TashiCell in Bhutan, where she honed her skills in communication, coordination, and client service, skills that continue to strengthen her leadership in the care sector today.
Now back in Bhutan, Yeshey serves as Director at Charo Wongdo, where she plays a vital role in shaping the organization’s care programs, training staff, and ensuring service excellence. Her international experience and heartfelt commitment to improving the lives of Bhutan’s elderly population make her a key member of the leadership team.
With a focus on dignity, compassion, and community wellbeing, Yeshey is dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where Bhutan’s senior citizens feel valued, respected, and cared for.
Tshering Denkar, popularly known as Denkars Getaway, is recognized as the first Bhutanese travel blogger and vlogger. Over the past five years, she has traveled extensively across Bhutan, earning admiration and support from both Bhutanese and global travelers. Tshering is celebrated as a trailblazer and a local travel expert.
She holds a master’s degree in Tourism Management from Thailand. Through her travels, Tshering has significantly contributed to promoting domestic tourism and creating travel literature about Bhutan. As a published author of the bestselling travel book, The Tourist Within, she shares captivating travel stories, highlights unique customs and traditions, and promotes Bhutan’s diverse travel destinations. Beyond her work in tourism, she identifies as a social worker, nature enthusiast, and environmentalist.
Tshering is also a passionate youth climate advocate. During her many treks in Bhutan’s pristine, unexplored mountains, she has witnessed firsthand the impacts of global warming on vulnerable mountain communities. Leveraging her large social media following, she raises awareness of climate issues by sharing compelling stories on global platforms. She has produced and directed several documentaries on climate change, some of which were screened at COP 27 in Egypt. Tshering collaborates with agencies, NGOs, and CSOs to promote climate education and actively participates in global climate dialogues, representing Bhutan as a young leader and advocate.
Recently, she competed alongside Hollywood actor Will Smith in a travel series for NatGeo and Disney Plus.
Passang Wangmo Sherpa is a committed and compassionate support worker at Charo Wongdo, where she plays an essential role in delivering personalized and empathetic care to the elderly. Originally from the tranquil district of Dagana, Passang brings both academic knowledge and heartfelt dedication to her work in the care sector.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies, equipping her with a strong understanding of the social, economic, and cultural dynamics affecting vulnerable and marginalized communities. This academic foundation complements her practical training in Individual Support and Care, which she completed at ITPL, allowing her to provide holistic, person centered support to clients.
Known for her excellent communication skills, patience, and goal driven mindset, Passang approaches every aspect of her role with empathy and professionalism. She is particularly skilled at addressing not only the physical but also the emotional and social needs of the elderly, ensuring that each individual in her care feels valued, respected, and supported.
As a Support Worker at Charo Wongdo, Passang embodies the organization’s core values of compassion, dignity, and integrity. Her presence on the team strengthens the organization’s mission to create a nurturing and respectful environment for Bhutan’s aging population.
